Two Renault models have been awarded in the Auto Trader New Car Awards 2021, voted for by 148,000 owners who drive and experience the cars every single day.
The Renault Zoe E-Tech 100% electric has been named the Best Car for New Drivers, while the bestselling Captur has been awarded the Best Car for City Drivers title in Auto Trader’s fifth year of awards, adding to an already impressive haul of awards in Renault’s trophy cabinet.
Best Car for New Drivers – Renault Zoe E-Tech 100% electric
The Renault Zoe – Europe’s bestselling electric car – has been awarded the title of Best Car for New Drivers thanks to its simplicity, its minimal running costs and its reliability, with owners also citing its comfort and acceleration as areas in which to recommend it.The Zoe’s electric powertrain means it’s easy to just get in and drive – another area in which the voting owners rate it highly, and especially useful for new drivers – while delivering impressive range of 245 miles from its 52kWh battery.
Erin Baker, Editorial Director, Auto Trader, said of the win:
“The Renault Zoe wins with its reliability and durability, while owners also rated highly its comfort and speed of acceleration.” Drivers commented on the “fantastic screens up front, with great audio” and said it’s “easy to get in and drive off, and is so cheap to run - no car tax, no emissions.”
Renault’s latest EASY LINK touchscreen infotainment systems are also a hit with Auto Trader’s award voters, with the dual-screen set-up rating highly. The main EASY LINK screen is available in 7.0- or 9.3-inch sizes, depending on the model, while all Zoes get a 10-inch TFT Driver Information Display that clearly shows everything from speed and trip information to driving assistance and navigation functions.
Best Car for City Drivers – Renault Captur
The Captur solidifies its position as UK buyers’ most popular Renault model with another win under its belt, voted for by Auto Trader consumers as Best Car for City Drivers.
Erin Baker said: “The Renault Captur came top for features and accessories, and also scored highly for space and reliability. Owners commented on the excellent driving position saying, “It makes me feel safe, in control and very comfortable”.
The Captur’s SUV stance and raised driving position ensures a superior view out – particularly in town – which has been recognised by owners, while its compact exterior dimensions and driver assistance aids mean it’s easy to manoeuvre. There’s no compromise on interior space, either, another area where it’s rated highly among owners.
Like the Zoe – and all the other latest Renault models – the Captur features the most up-to-date technology to keep drivers safe, secure and connected on the roads, with a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) controlled via crisp EASY LINK displays up to 9.3 inches inside, and complemented by digital displays in the instrument panel for ultimate personalisation.
The Renault Captur is available with a range of efficient TCe petrol and advanced E-Tech plug-in hybrid powertrains, meaning those who love the Captur’s best traits in town can also benefit from silent, emissions-free running in battery modes across plug-in hybrid models.
The Auto Trader New Car Awards surveyed 148,000 car owners between September 2020 and April 2021, rating their cars against 16 criteria, from performance and running costs to appearance and reliability. Participants are also asked to rate how satisfied they are overall, and if they would recommend it across 19 awards.
