why should you get a home charging station?
depending on your driving habits
Your ideal home charging solution should be determined based on 3 factors: your daily mileage, your vehicle use (city, motorway, etc.) and your need for frequent fast charging.
On the Renault website and in the relevant vehicle brochures, you will find a simulator to help you estimate your charging times based on the type of charging solution, helping you plan according to your needs.
Stop by our dealership, where our Renault sales advisor will guide you based on your needs and preferences.
based on the setup of your electrical installation
A 7 kW EV charger can be powered by single-phase electricity and requires 32 amps with a circuit breaker rated for at least 40 amps.
To determine whether your home has enough available power to install an EV charger, a qualified electrician will need to calculate the maximum demand of the property. Maximum demand is the peak electricity demand from the grid at a property.
If the maximum demand exceeds the incoming supply of the property, a fuse upgrade may be needed. While some homes have a 100 amp supply, most usually have 80 amps or even 60 amps, which is more common in older or smaller properties.
If your home uses more than 60 amps, we must tell your DNO (distribution network operator) about the EV charge point installation in case they need to upgrade your electricity supply.
your journey made simple
We look after everything from assessing your home electrics to commissioning the unit and what’s more, it is easy to use, so no need for complicated manuals and guides.
You can order your Mobilize Home Charger through the Renault Retailer at the same time as your new Renault E-Tech or plug-in hybrid vehicle. All you need to do is order your home charger through your Renault Retailer or on our website, and your installation journey starts.
Once you have ordered your home charger, you will be automatically emailed a digital survey that will help us assess if you have a standard installation* or if your distribution network operator will require some additional works. Once the assessment has been completed and DNO approved, our installation company will contact you to book in your installation at a time convenient to you. The typical installation takes 4-6 weeks to complete.**
*depending on the works that may need to be carried out by your regional energy supplier.
Charging your vehicle at home is the most convenient and cost-effective solution compared to using public charging stations. Additionally, you can opt for an off-peak tariff to charge overnight and optimise your spending.
The average cost per mile is around 1.11 p per mile at 0.7p/kWh on the Scenic E-Tech electric techno 170 hp comfort range*
To fully charge your electric vehicle with an 60kWh battery is £4.20 on Octopus Intelligent Go tariff.

Your charging solution can be installed in your garage or outdoors, on a suitable wall. To optimise installation costs, it’s advisable, whenever possible, to place your socket or charging station near your switchboard.
Generally, private houses have a single-phase electrical installation, meaning there is one phase and a voltage of 230 V.
Three-phase electrical distribution is more suitable for businesses to meet the high energy demands of their equipment. However, some houses with specific configurations have three-phase electrical installations.
This distinction can be crucial when choosing your vehicle and charging solution if you do a lot of driving. If your home has a three-phase connection, it’s wise to choose a vehicle with a three-phase charger and a three-phase charging station. Otherwise, the charging time could be three times longer.
Most homes in the UK have single-phase electricity, which is sufficient for a charging rate of 7kW. For faster charging rates, you'll need to upgrade to three-phase power.
Your EV charger will use up to 32 amps and most homes have a 100 amp supply. However, typically smaller or older properties may only have 80 amps or even 60 amps.
The information you provide in your digital survey will help us identify if your property needs any additional works (this may incur additional costs), and your energy supplier should be able to upgrade your supply, free of charge, before your new EV charger is installed.
